      Overview

      This course provides Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) and those in equivalent roles with the practical tools to assist the clinical team by conducting various client consultations. You will increase your knowledge of essential topics including admissions and discharges for routine procedures, nutrition, infectious diseases, vaccinations, and parasite control. The training also explores the fundamentals of dispensary management, covering stock rotation, health and safety guidelines, and basic stock control. By mastering these principles, you will be able to run consultations such as weigh-ins and nail clips confidently, providing clear and helpful answers to common client queries.

      Intended learning outcomes

      By the end of this course, you should be able to:
      • Demonstrate communication skills and project confidence when dealing with clients in practice
      • Complete basic consultations including admit and discharges for routine procedures, nail clipping and familiarisation clinics
      • Discuss preventative healthcare and weight control with clients confidently
      • Describe to clients the variety of pet food and their advantages and disadvantages
      • Consider stock rotation, dispensing health & safety guidelines and stock control basics
