Access to a good quality ultrasound machine and a working knowledge of how to use it, should be considered a must for veterinary surgeons working in general practice, because ultrasound is such a valuable tool for the work up and diagnosis of a wide range of conditions in dogs, cats and other species.
The aim of this highly practical course, delivered by skilled and experienced ultrasonographers, is to help delegates get started with ultrasound by teaching the knowledge and skills required to set up the machine and perform a basic abdominal ultrasound examination.

- Understand how to set up an ultrasound machine and prepare a patient for an abdominal ultrasound to optimise the images
- Recognise common ultrasound artefacts
- Demonstrate basic proficiency in the practical scanning of normal abdominal organs
- Identify and describe common abnormalities seen on abdominal ultrasound
- Produce a written report of the findings of an abdominal ultrasound
