      Overview

Fearful dogs require a sensitive and informed approach from the moment they enter the practice. This course is specifically designed for receptionists and non-clinical staff, as well as PCAs and Student Veterinary Nurses, to build confidence when assisting clients with fearful pets. You will explore the common signs of fear, ranging from subtle body language cues to more obvious defensive behaviours, and investigate the various factors that cause these emotional responses. The training also provides an overview of the treatments and interventions that the clinical team may prescribe, ensuring you can provide accurate information and support to owners during their visit or over the telephone.

      Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
      • Identify signs of fear in dogs
      • Understand the causes of fear in dogs
      • Recognise treatments for fear in dogs
