In many first-opinion practices, reptile patients are seen less frequently than mammals, which can lead to uncertainty when one is presented in the clinic. This course is designed to replace that hesitation with confidence, providing you with the specialist knowledge required to deliver a high standard of care. Because reptiles have complex physiological needs, understanding their environment is just as important as understanding their clinical condition.
The training explores the specific equipment and husbandry techniques necessary to support hospitalised reptiles, including temperature management and hydration. You will learn to identify common health conditions and master nursing techniques tailored to squamates and chelonians. Beyond clinical care, the course focuses on client education and outreach, empowering you to provide vital guidance on nutrition, housing, and behaviour to ensure long-term patient health. By the end of this course, you will be equipped to manage the patient journey from initial presentation through to nursing care and, when necessary, compassionate euthanasia.
