      Overview

Infection control is a collective responsibility, and this course ensures you understand the importance of maintaining high hygiene standards across the entire practice. You will learn about disease processes, including how they are transmitted and recognised, so you can deal with potential infectious risks effectively and safely. The training covers practical safety measures, including rigorous hand hygiene protocols and the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). By exploring waste management and disinfection techniques, you will gain the knowledge necessary to protect your patients, your colleagues, and yourself within the veterinary environment.

      Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
      • Differentiate the microorganisms that cause disease in the veterinary environment
      • Identify patient symptoms which may require further infection control intervention
      • Describe effective cleaning and disinfection, sterilisation, hand hygiene and PPE protocols
