      Overview

Creating a cat-friendly veterinary practice begins with a deep understanding of why cats behave the way they do in a clinical setting. This course explores feline behaviour to help you identify potential stressors and take proactive steps to make your practice as welcoming as possible for both feline patients and their owners. While a veterinary visit can be inherently stressful, you will learn how to evaluate different areas of your practice and recommend meaningful improvements to enhance the patient journey. Furthermore, the training covers essential handling techniques designed to maintain feline welfare and happiness whilst ensuring the safety of your colleagues. This includes practical guidance on providing basic first aid for any cat-related injuries sustained during a consultation.

      Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
      • Use a basic knowledge of cat behaviour to assess how happy a cat is when it comes into practice
      • Evaluate how 'cat-friendly' different areas of your practice are and recommend improvements that could be made
      • Explain to others how to handle cats in a calm and friendly manner, whilst keeping colleagues safe
      • Provide basic first aid for cat bites and scratches
“I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.”
