      Overview

Nursing medical patients requires a deep understanding of how disease processes affect the body and the specific interventions needed to support recovery. This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to nurse a variety of clinical diseases in practice, focusing on canine and feline patients. You will explore the anatomy and physiology of common conditions, learn to identify clinical signs, and gain guidance on effective nursing care. Beyond specific diseases, the training covers essential ward management skills, including prioritising tasks to maintain high standards of care while minimising infection risks.

The course includes a workbook designed to encourage reflection on your current nursing protocols and identify areas for improvement. You will also refine core nursing skills such as pain management, fluid therapy, and nutritional support, enabling you to apply high-standard care to medical cases not explicitly covered in the modules.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
      • Explain the physiology of a number of common medical conditions in the dog and cat, and how these affect the clinical signs
